This page provides precautions and other information considered useful when using PC emulation.

Using PC Emulation from Sequencers Running on the Same Computer

To perform PC emulation playback using the MIDI output of sequencers running on the same computer running SoundMaker, it is necessary to loop the MIDI output from the sequencer back into the MIDI input of the computer.

Looping back a MIDI signal in this manor is called "loop back." Loop back can be accomplished with software by using a freeware virtual MIDI device driver.

Reproducibility of Sounds Using PC Emulation

Degradation of audio quality due to compression of waveform data such as ADPCM and characteristics of the audio circuits of the CTR system are not reproduced when playing sounds using PC emulation. Consequently, there are differences in the sound quality output as compared to playback on the actual device.

As with MIDI, PC emulation does not support theoretically impossible playback such as loops or sequence command playback.

Be absolutely sure to perform a final check of each sound using the CTR system.

PC emulation does not support some emulation playback such as the AX features.
