It selectively enables and disables interlacing of the frame buffer image. When the mask is <code>GX_FALSE</code>, the field will not be written to the EFB. However, the other field will be computed. In other words, it will cost the fill rate price of a frame to produce a field. The recommended method for field rendering does not use field masking.
