36<P>This function acquires as u8 data the contents of the memory at the <CODE>address</CODE> that is specified by a <CODE>const void</CODE> type pointer.</P>
37<P>This function ensures compatibility with previous versions. Currently, this is just an inline function that reads <CODE>data</CODE> by treating <CODE>address</CODE> as a u8 pointer.</P>
