This tool is used to confirm the online manual call sequence when offline.
Although the online manual can be executed by executing OSLaunchManualViewer on a retail version of the Wii console, the Online Manual Verification Tool is a NAND application used during development to verify the online manual's call sequence on development hardware. Note that this tool is not for checking the manual itself. Furthermore, no connection is made to the network.
The Korean and Chinese versions of the console have different game codes for the Wii Shop Channel, so special WAD files have been prepared.
The game code for the tool is displayed at the top of the screen. Compare this with the game codes shown below to verify that they match and that the tool can be correctly called.
| Country code of development machine | WAD file of the corresponding tool | Wii Shop Channel game code |
| JPN / USA / EUR / TWN | dummyviewer.wad | HABA |
| KOR | dummyviewer_kr.wad | HABK |
| CHN | dummyviewer_cn.wad | HABC |
DvdRoot/viewer.OSLaunchManualViewer is executed within an application.
The text string in the argument specified upon execution of OSLaunchManualViewer is displayed on the screen.
Pressing the A Button passes this argument and transfers execution to the application that started the viewer. This tool allows you to confirm that execution has returned from the online manual in the usual sequence.
Pressing the B Button causes execution to transfer to the application that started the viewer without passing the argument. This tool allows you to confirm correct operation in cases such as when the console is reset while viewing the online manual.
Note: For details on the exact execution sequence associated with the online manual, see the control flow provided separately.
A warning message is displayed and the screen background turns red if the online manual is started by some other method such as Nmenu.
Because this tool has the same game code as the Wii Shop Channel, an error may be displayed when importing the Wii Shop Channel or when updating development hardware.
In such cases, first use Nmenu to remove any NAND applications with the Wii Shop Channel game code, and then try again. This should resolve the problem.
